Went for lunch today with colleagues for a birthday. Had the sandwich special ( 1/2 sandwich with green chile stew). The stew was AWESOME! I didn't care too much for the sandwich I had. I always feel like their sandwiches are too heavy with butter or general ingredients. I love their homemade potato chips though!

I give it one star because they have a parking lot. We went in at 11:00 am. There were a dozen empty tables, and we were seated right away. I used the restroom while my wife waited at the table, and no one had come to the table while I was gone. She used the restroom and returned still no service, no offer of coffee, or water, so we left.. Hardly amazing service.

Outstanding food, portions are too large in my opinion, but very well prepared. My favorite breakfast place hands down. Although, I caution you to visit early on a weekday. On the weekend this place is an absolute mad house!

Quality diner food, large portions. Friendly service. ABQ local favorite. Go for breakfast

Never a bad breakfast at Weck's! Got papas? The Rio Rancho, New Mexico location on 528 definitely makes the grade. Food is always good and arrives quickly. The servers are friendly and earn their tips. If you are looking for a fabulous breakfast or maybe a loaded weekend brunch, Weck's will fill you up. We always have a doggie bag or two with enough for a second meal at home. Yum!

Overall the best breakfast dining I've experienced. Service was superb and the food tasted great! Our server was the best. Glad to see the manager come around and ask us how everything was. I don't see that too often. Will keep coming back.

Excellent breakfast. We are passing through and we were lucky enough to stumble into this place. Service is outstanding and the food was delicious.

For a breakfast chain, this place is incredible. This was one of the most recommended places by friends and family for me to visit when visiting Albuquerque I must say that the suggestion was spot on. When I found out it was a chain, I was expecting an similar experience to IHOP, but I was pleased to find that Weck's feels like a Mom and Pop diner. The Papas are a must have. The selections of papas on the menu are all great, but if you do not happen to find a bowl to your liking, you can always create your own! With the small local feeling of this great chain, you cannot go wrong. The best part is there seems to be one at every major intersection so you do not have to travel far for a great breakfast

Best food and customer service. Clean bathrooms, silverware, menus and parking lot. Burger is moist and scrumptious - enchiladas are tasty and satisfying.

I absolutely LOVED this place! The service was excellent! Our Server Sara was really friendly and attentive. I inquired about a few items on the menu and was even offered to sample some of them before i ordered. I was pleasantly pleased with the suggestion and im glad i sampled the items cause i could chose the one that wasnt spicy. The manager made a point to visit our table to make sure we were completely satisfied with our food and service and he felt sincere on his interest on our satisfaction. The food itself was also great!! Ordered a Carnita Papas Bowl. Yummy!! Perfect portion too. The restaurant was clean (so are the restrooms) and we were promptly seated and served. Loved this place! If i lived locally it would probably quickly become my go to bfast spot.

Everytime I visit family in ABQ we come to Wecks for breakfast. My dad calls it "getting Wecked!" We always get the grilled cinnamon roll as an appetizer - I know! It is really good! I just wish they would have icing on both sides! One time they accommodated me and put it on both sides- that was the best!!!! After the "appetizer" we ordered. I had the sloppy bowl - OMG! It was so good! Hashbrowns covered with country gravy with an egg on top! It also comes with a tortilla if you want to make your own breakfast burrito. It was so filling that I couldn't even finish it! I did, however, get a cinnamon roll to take home to California! Yum! I will be back next time!

I absolutely LOVE Wecks. They've always provided amazing service, the food has yet to let me down, and you don't lose any flavor quality when you order your meal to go. That's a pretty impressive feat if you ask me since a lot of other local places will just throw a slopped mess together since you won't be eating there. Anyway, I highly recommend Wecks. If you're an early bird, it's best that you get there first thing in the morning. Otherwise, be prepared to wait a while since they're slammed for the majority of the morning.

I've only ordered takeout from this Weck's but I've done it a few times now and each time everything has been perfect, my order has been ready, and it was fairly simple to get my order and go, which I definitely appreciate! The quality of the food is the same as other Weck's, they are kind and accommodating. This location is essentially in the heart of Rio Rancho so it's easily accessible and always a good choice!

Always go to Weck's when I am back home in New Mexico, always satisfied! Try the Papas! The Original is delish! Ordered with Red and Green Chile. They almost never put enough chile on the dishes, so I ask for a side. Their strawberry lemonade, their chips, and their BLT is also noteworthy!

Great place with amazing food I had the chicken fried steak with eggs and the vanilla nut coffee which was also very good a must try when in New Mexico.

Great hash browns! Great service, and very eager to please. Must go to this place if you are in town. Baked goods looked yummy too!

The fact that Weck's locations are always busy is a testament to their food, atmosphere, and quality of service. On any given day there, you can get top-quality New Mexican food, classic breakfast, soup and sandwich, or any number of vegetarian options. They're one of the best spots in town. I have had almost everything on their breakfast menu, from the biscuits and gravy to the oatmeal, but by far, the best item is the huevos rancheros. They're the best in Albuquerque, in my opinion, and the green chile sauce and beans are what make it great. The pancakes are also brilliantly crafted, and the best both I and my girlfriend have ever had. The service is always great at Weck's. They always employ high-quality waiters, the food comes out quickly, and the manager comes by each table to make sure the service is alright. That personal touch is one of the many outstanding things about Weck's. Weck's is one of my go-to places each time I come back to Albuquerque.

One of our go-to spots for Sunday breakfast and even though it's packed and usually a pretty good wait it's totally worth it. The servers are on it, the food is consistently good and they even give us these great to-go cups for our drinks! My one and only issue is that I like to order the bowl o'papas which is supposed to come with an egg, protein and chile choice. For whatever reason the bowl is 90% hash browns. It's so dry sometimes that I need a side order of chile (which is an extra cost) and I always end up just eating a bunch of hash browns. We love Weck's but I wish my favorite dish was better.

Hands down the best breakfast in town, I always get the chicken fried steak with a side of red chili and it is delicious the service is always great, the servers remember us and always know what we want I highly recommend this place!!!!!

Great service and good food. We found something for everyone in our group of 10 (vegetarians, low-calorie eaters, and fried food connoisseurs). We liked it so much we went back the next day day. I ordered the veggie delight sandwich with tomato soup and a side of sweet potato fries. It came with homemade chips, which were incredible. The next day I ordered the veggie breakfast burritos thinking it was be healthier...not a chance. My entire plate was filling and then smothered with red chili sauce and melted cheese. It made for two delightful meals though.

Ate here all the time when we lived here. Since we moved we only get to eat here once a year when visiting family but it is still one of our first stops. I love the papas carne. Wife gets the papas carnitas

Wecks is probably the best breakfast place in New Mexico. Usually when you go to wecks it pretty Busy but wait for a seat it's worth it! The drinks there are soooooo big so get like a diet coke or something. I say for when your ordering get a papas or breakfast burrito. Ask for green chili's on the side, it's spicy but you need it. When you leave ask for a to go cup trust me you'll want it!

Since moving to Albuquerque we'd heard Weck's is where it's at for breakfast. I love a good breakfast, especially when its smothered in green chile. We went on a Saturday and surprisingly were sat quickly. The restaurant is very crowed (my only complaint- which shouldn't be because that's how we were able to get sat so quickly!) The service was incredible. We always had what we needed, without asking. The waitress even thought to bring extra plates because our girls were sharing their breakfast. The food and drink portions were large (a star alone in my book:) My food was great; The chile was tasty and the prices were fair. I'm glad we ate at Weck's

Bumping this up to 4 stars becaue I almost forgot: Weck's does huge carry-out beverages!! It's not out of the box, it knows what it is, and they try really hard. So I'm bumping it up to 4 stars.

I should've known better than to come on a Sunday morning. It was crazy. The hostess told us a party of 7 would be 20 minutes. After 45 minutes I asked her why it has been so long when she said 20 minutes. Her reply was well, 20 to 25 minutes then add about 10 on to that to be more realistic. OMG, really? How bout being honest? We still would have waited, why lie? Our waitress, Kirby was delightful! She was attentive and professional. My food was Weck's food. As you know, it doesn't suck, but it isn't to die for either. A nice touch was at the end of the meal the manager asked us if we were pleased. All in all, breakfast took us 2 hours from checking in with the hostess to paying the bill.

This place is always packed for a reason. The large portions and well rounded menu make this a" go to place" for breakfast. I am a huge fan of their huevos rancheros.

So I finally tried Weck's and am very glad I did. There was a short wait, but it was well worth it. I ordered the big pig omelette and was shocked at how huge the serving was. The omelette itself is made with four eggs, and it's served with a big side of hash browns and your choice of bread (I chose biscuits). The meal was too big for me to finish, but I tried. The biscuits were a little dry, but everything else was great. The one thing that stood out to me was the exceptional service provided. The hostess, waitresses and manager all were extremely friendly and genuine. They even remembered my wife and daughter from previous visits. This is definitely my favorite restaurant that I've eaten at since moving to Albuquerque. I look forward to many brunches at Weck's in the future.

First thing .they are always busy at any location.from my visits to other locations it was been worth the wait. The waiter was very friendly and attentive.big drink cups.even the orange juice was huge. Huge portions good tasting food.even the manager came over and checked on us.very impressive overall. This was my first visit to this location and I will be back.

First time here and the service and food where amazing. Super large portions and great pricing. Wish they were open for dinner. Now we know why they are always packed. We will be back!

It was a standard breakfast. Good, reliable food, but don't see the cause for four stars (which to me means I would drive out of my way to go there).

  • Donnell J.

There is no chance of me making it out here and not going to Wecks! It's by far my favorite breakfast place anywhere and I usually don't eat breakfast very often. Original Papas extra green chili is the way to go. Service leaves a bit to be desired but nevertheless it's still worth it.

  • Nicole S.

Weck's is pretty much the one thing I miss about moving away from ABQ, and anyone who gave it less than 4 stars probably need their tastebuds checked. I DREAM of a Bowl O ' Papas with red Chile. And should I ever find myself in ABQ again, there is no doubt I will eat there for every breakfast.

HUGE portions, bland food. Not wasting my money here again

Great service. Very attentive wait staff. Clean, spotless restaurant. Best french toast around. Mexicali coffee isn't offered everyday however when it is make sure you get it. The numerous choices on the menu make Wecks the perfect place for everyone.

Weck's is a bit like New Mexican food 101. It's an introductory course, a non-threatening survey into the culinary basics of the region designed for a wide audience with a casual interest. Nothing at Weck's is spicy or strange; it's all lowest common denominator New Mexican and breakfast food. That's not necessarily a bad thing; I certainly enjoy Weck's from time to time. But Weck's is certainly not the place to go for an authentic taste of local cuisine. So, first the good stuff. Portions at Weck's are undeniably huge. Nearly every entree can be stretched to two meals for all but the most committed eaters. Their menu is extensive covering all the usual options for breakfast and lunch that one would expect from a self-respecting ABQ brunch joint. Eggs in every imaginable configuration served in every imaginable prepositional relation to other food, burritos, sandwiches, burgers, and salads. While the burgers are decent and the sandwiches serviceable, ordering these things at Weck's is a scoffable offense. The real star of the show here is the papas plates. These plates (not the much smaller bowls) feature a week's worth of hash browns covered in cheese, eggs, and chile, with options for things like chicken or carne adovada. It's a hell of a deal for the price and clearly the most ordered item at Weck's. Frankly, it's the only reason I eat there. That being said, this is not gourmet food. It's about one step up from Denny's or IHOP. The quality of ingredients here is not going to turn heads, but the food is decent. Well, barring the sad carne adovada. What loses Weck's points is their weak chile and the lengthy wait times on the weekends. The chile is particularly bland with almost no heat. For such an established ABQ chain, this is both surprising and disappointing. I like my food a lot spicier than most people, so you may enjoy the fact that your mouth doesn't burn when you eat the stuff. But the chile here doesn't really taste like chile. It doesn't have that peppery flavor, that smokiness, that depth of flavor that distinguishes really good chile from nondescript red sauce. If you're a fan of New Mexican food, this chile is not going to cut it. Add to that huge lines for the place on Saturday with wait times up to 40 minutes, an overwhelmed wait stuff, and a generally corporate atmosphere and Weck's is a place I'd sooner skip. Well, if not for those damn papas.

I had there chicken enchiladas for breakfast and wasn't to impressed they were dry and bland the portions are huge though my gf had there biscuits and gravy and she wasn't impressed the biscuits were hard and the gravy was from a packet. Only reason I am giving this 3 stars is cause I have had there breakfast burritos and they are pretty good

Reliably good food that is very reasonably priced. Service is good but hours are limited to breakfast & lunch only. Management is outstanding - always personally checking with each table to make sure they're satisfied.

I'm from CA and visited some family in Rio Rancho, and dam was this place good, and the prices were great. I love biscuits and gravy thanks to the Army, and this place does it right.

We have breakfast/brunch there almost every Sunday. They have never done us wrong. Fresh coffee is great. Love their Sloppy. Their huevos rancheros is the bomb too. This is a must go to for sure. They have breakfast and lunch down perfectly!

YUM! Go to Weck's when you are really hungry! You get a lot of food for a decent price and it is GOOD! I have yet to have a bad experience there. Very busy on the weekends, but you can always order to go!

  • Marcial R.

Ok, Today I had the Grreen Chile Chicken Enchiladas. WARNING! the Green Chile is HOT! I did request Sour Cream suggested by Bessie the Waitress Extraordinaire! The Enchiladas are not rolled here they are layered. I did find that this way allows for more chicken to be had. The two eggs on top were a little over cooked for "over Medium" but no big deal. Overall , great meal. Service is AWESOME from the over friendly Host staff to the friendly management table visit.

  • Eric M.

All I can say is awesome! You won't be disappointed...all the food is great and portions are huge with hot green chili!! Wait staff nice, food great, waits are long on weekends though so be careful and they are only open till 2pm! Please eat here, you won't regret it!

  • Christine P.

Yummy, yummy breakfast! Omlets are huge with lots of filling, best hashbrowns anywhere! Green chili is perfect, not to hot but good spiciness! Always busy so expect a short wait but it is worth it.

  • Steve K.

Hungry? Order their infamous "Bowl O' Stuff Papas" ($7.29). It's a big bowl of hash browns, choices of meats, red or green chile, cheeses, and an egg. You can almost hear your arteries slamming shut! Finish it, and you won't eat for the rest of the day--seriously. And you may want to chew some Ex-Lax afterward--just so the meal doesn't "stay with you" for a week. Good stuff!

    (3)
  • Chris G.

I came here with co-workers during lunch and they recommended getting the stuff papas. I got the stuffed papas with pollo, which is made up of a mountain of fresh hash browns with green chile, cheddar and jack cheese and toppped with a scrambled egg and served with a tortilla. Our service was good and I went back to work with a large chocolate chip cookie.

    (5)
  • David K.

Once again, great service and food. This time I ordered a pork burrito with red chili from there lunch menu. Chili was spicy but not over bearing. If you are visiting the area, you need to make this part of your plan to stop. If you live in the area there is no reason that you shouldn't be dining here frequently. By the way I walked in right before close and never felt rushed or intimidated that they where closing.

Good food and service but the worst , weakest watered down coffee! Yuk! Good coffee with breakfast is kind of important!

  • Tom C.

Weck's is a good dependable gut filler. They're great for breakfast and fun for lunch. It's good food, and there's plenty of it, but it's not exactly creative or fancy. They're fun to go to every so often.

When I think of green chile and breakfast, I think of Weck's! All my friends and family from Chicago and Toronto love this place. I like my breakfast smothered with green chile. Terrific hashbrown and thick cut bacon. Portions are generously large, so go hungry!

Three of us went for breakfast Sunday morning over Memorial Day weekend and the place, as usual, was packed because the food and service is great. We each had breakfast specials - $6 that included coffee! What a great deal and a great hot breakfast. Eggs cooked to perfection. Looking forward to going back.

Got the hash browns with cheese and red chili con carne. Good stuff, and definately would go back! They came wel recommended, and well, rightfully so. Prices were reasonable, and service was good.

The best for breakfast burrito's "A la have it your way" smothered in New Mexico famous green chili. Hatch green chili is a-maz-ing! Try it mixed with corn. It makes everything better. Food is the size of my head and I have a big head! Family owned. A Sunday ritual.
